Alpenglow. Sprague Lake, Hallett Peak, Flattop Mountain. September 17, 1996.
It was an amazing morning at Rocky Mountain National Park. Sprague Lake is one of my favorite sunrise location with a nice view of the mountains.
I have been going to Sprague Lake for decades but I don’t think I have ever seen the alpenglow as intense as it was this particular morning. The amazing glow on the gray granite peaks makes this image.
My favorite photo for September 20 was also taken on the same trip.

My second place image for September 17 is a photo of our dog, Sunny. I had just purchased a new Canon 7D Mark II and I was testing its predictive autofocus system before a trip to Colorado. The autofocus was spot on.
