All of the photos for November 19 in my “favorite photos” folder are from the same photo shoot. It was hard to pick out THE favorite photo for today’s date. I finally went with this B&W image.
Rachel was in Europe when she graduated from high school and senior pictures wasn’t a “thing” where she lived. When she was a senior in college in the U.S. she decided she wanted senior pictures and gave me a call. It was a real treat to work with her.
We did a lot of tight portraits in both color and black and white. This is my second most favorite image for this date. I had a hard time choosing between this image and the B&W image at the top of this article and it could have gone either way.
This is the same image as the one immediately above, but I turned everything B&W except for her eyes.
We worked at various locations around Columbus, Ohio.
Rachel has been interested in photography for a long time and she has become a fine photographer in her own right. You can see her work here and contact her here.
I was photographing an international church conference in Independence Missouri and Rachel asked if I needed an assistant. I said “Sure”. There were times I would be shooting with one camera and lens and she would be changing the lenses on my other camera so it would be ready to go for what I had planned next. After a couple of conferences as my assistant (the conferences were held every two years), at my recommendation she was given a press pass and became one of the official photographers at the convention.
Rachel hard at work at the Community of Christ World Conference, Independence, Missouri. Don’t be surprised if this photo shows up when I write my favorite photo article for April 16.
