We were in Fremont California visiting family over the holidays. As I sometimes do when we are there, I head out early in the morning to go to the local wildlife refuge. This image is my favorite that morning, my favorite for this date, and one of my all time favorite wildlife images.

If you are in the San Francisco Bay area, the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Fremont is a great place to take pictures.

My second favorite photo for this date is our son Jared helping helping his son Terran open a Christmas present. As is usual for us, with family all over the country we have more than one Christmas every year with us traveling to see family or them traveling to see us.
