We were in California visiting “mom” (my mother-in-law) and we were headed out for dinner together. We stopped just long enough to take a group picture.

It was a cloudy bright day which was perfect for a group portrait. Bright sunlight casts strong shadows which are usually not flattering for most portraits. There are exceptions of course, but usually soft light is better for portraits.
