Vassanta on the shore of Lake Michigan with a beautiful sunset. It doesn’t get much better than this. This is one of my two most favorite photos for June 3 and one of my all time favorite sunset portraits.

If you have been following this series, you already know the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite places for wetland bird photography. One this particular day I spotted this Black-crowned Night Heron hunting along the water’s edge. This is my other most favorite photo for this date.

On the same day as the heron I came upon this group of American Avocets in an odd mix of poses. This is my second place favorite photo for this date.
