This is one of my all time favorite photos for several reasons. All three people are friends of mine. I have been in Lach’s home several times. My wife and I spent a week traveling in Tahiti with Mareva and her husband, and for several years I was in planning meetings with Bunde.
There is also the symbolism that goes beyond the ordination of a minister. Mareva is from French Polynesia. Bunde is from Africa. Lach is from North America. This image says something about the possibilities when humanity is not divided by culture or skin color or national origins. We can be who we uniquely are and love our culture and our country, and we can still work together for the good of our common humanity.

This is the unique room in which the ordination took place. This is my second favorite photo for this date.

And this is the outside.

You’ve seen these girls before. I usually photograph them separately. This is my third favorite photo for this date.
