Northern Cardinal in the Snow

Northern Cardinal in the Snow

Thanks to the recent Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), photographing birds has been my thing lately. On a fine, chilly winter day with slightly diffused sunlight, I found this Cardinal in the snow.

White snow is a recipe for under-exposing images, so adding some plus (+) exposure compensation is the way to make sure the image isn’t too dark. I added about 1 1/3 stops of plus exposure compensation for this image.

Photo Data: Canon 7D Mark II. Canon EF 100-400mm Mark II lens at 400mm. f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 400.
