The Day that Changes the Rest of Your Life. A self portrait.

Sarah is an exceptional model, a photographer, and most important, a friend. That is why this self portrait and the story behind it are important to me.  In her own words:

“I dropped my then 4 year old Aidan off to his dad. He had just been diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome and low spectrum autism. I walked past his room to discover the evidence I’d never really put together. Walking through his room I found his blanket and just cried. It hit me what the rest of my life would be like. I decided to capture it.”

I remember when the doctors told Sarah her son would never talk. And I remember the incredible joy and excitement when, 5 years ago, he started to use words. Today he uses sentences in conversations.
